Since Scorpio originally wrote this article, he has changed his mind about phone auditing of UCP, and no longer recommends it at all.  Yes, SOME sessions you MIGHT get away with doing on the phone.  On the other hand, SOME SESSIONS YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY DO SUCCESSFULLY ON THE PHONE, and you have no way of knowing what they are until they happen.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO AUDIT UCP ON THE TELEPHONE . . .  you would simply be setting yourself up for a HUGE LOSS.

My phone pc is someone whom I've previously audited face-to-face with very good results.  We both have a very high affinity for one another, and I know her current life situation, much of her this-lifetime history, and her "coping mechanisms," both in and out of session.

She sought me out for regular phone sessions because of our prior success and her respect for me as an auditor.  She didn't present herself to find out if a given process or technology was workable; she TRUSTED my judgment and was willing for us to approach her case in any way I thought best.  She was also willing for us to work together for a series of sessions, not just a one-shot test run.

Even with all this going for us, phone auditing UCP has been a mixed bag.  I certainly miss being right there with her on this process in particular, as it takes many unexpected highways, by-ways, and side streets before it arrives at its destination in a given session; also, as the technical materials on your website indicate, exactly where the process is going and exactly what the pc does with it CHANGE from session to session, although the overall direction is clearly UP the tone scale.

I cannot recommend phone auditing for auditors and pcs who do not know and trust each other very well.  Even with those conditions met, the road can be bumpy due to the misduplication potential of the comm line itself.

And I certainly wouldn't want to take on any pc for UCP, phone or otherwise, who wasn't willing to give it a fair run, and, by my experience, that requires more than just a single session.  Mudrunner and I agreed to 25 hours each way and to stop our test only if we found the process was butchering either of our cases.   We each started noticing an UNMISTAKABLE rise in tone after receiving 10-12 hours, though, of course, YMMV.

We're both eager to discover how far up the Tone Scale UCP will take us.
