THIS LETTER WAS WRITTEN IN AUGUST OF 1995,  BEFORE SITCHIN'S UNACKNOWLEDGED RECANTATION in Divine Encounters.   Some questions I would no longer pose.  Clearly the annunaki did not abandon earth after the atomic war in 2024 bc.  The precise calculations of orbital periods are obviously irrelevant when they can vary by a factor of two in subsequent fly-bys [as Hale-Bopp demonstrates].  HOWEVER, IT RAISES MANY QUESTIONS WHICH ARE STILL UNANSWERED.

Dear Rabbi Sitchin:

I have confronted your staggering opus in your six books, and I have a number of questions and comments:

First, I am enormously grateful to you for your extraordinary scholarship, your astonishing breadth of vision, the obvious social/academic risks you took in your "heretical" stance, the tremendous effort of writing you have expended, and your ability to compellingly demostrate your case. The "liberal education" which I formerly believed I had has actually been greatly supplied by you. [I also read Genesis and wondered about the "giants," and those "other" people and "gods" back in Adam's time, but I got NO answers until I read your books.]

Reading p. 78 of When Time Began, I was startled to read about An Daga.
In the first half of this century my grandfather extensively befriended the Chippewa indians in northern Wisconsin, and to show their appreciation they formally took him into their tribe.  As the only white man ever inducted, he was given the totem animal "On-Dag," meaning "great spirit," whose symbol is a crow on top of a totem pole.  The closeness of this to "An Daga" and the representation of an eagle atop a rocket ship is certainly striking to me, and suggests a sumerian origin.   I will check with my father to see if I can get some more historical/legendary data about On-Dag and the early indians.

Your books raise so many questions it is hard to know where to start!

What caused the day the earth stood still in 1393/1394 bc? At first, I thought this must be a fly-by of the 12th Planet, but you do not suggest this, and your chronology would contradict it. Was this a one time event, or does it recurr cyclically? What could cause such major celestical event but the very close passage of some very massive heavenly body? What could this be but 12th Planet? [I think Velikofsky would say: Venus.] Any clues? Also, having stopped rotation, what forces would compel it to start again? Once stopped, inertia would dictate that it stay stopped until something else spins it up again.

Since it sometimes appears that you have read every book in every language since the deluge, I am AMAZED that you don't mention Velikofsky. Your efforts seem to be so parallel and overlapping. I haven't read him, but I heard him speak in the 1960's and he was very impressive. How does your chronology mesh with his? Do you and he describe the same events? If my memory serves me, he talks about the day the earth stood still in 1394/1394 bc as a major historical event involving Venus. It seems as though you are fowarding his essential argument that the bible and the other "myths and legends" are often much more accurate than "modern science," and that your work builds on his in many ways with more extensive antiquarian scholarship and modern scientific evidence.
I have been browsing the net. I find Velikofsky sites, and I find Sitchin sites, and they seem to be discussing many of the very same patterns, people, themes and events, but the Velikofsky contingent seems completely ignorant of you, and your contingent seems completely ignorant of Velikofsky. How can there be no overlap and no argument or discussion? This seems extremely anomalous to me. Is there some hidden conflict or disagreement that I am missing, or is your work just too new to have been noticed and confronted by the Velikofskian Catastrophians? How can you not have noticed Velikofsky preparing the groundwork for your arguments?

By your chronology, there should have been a 12th Planet fly-by circa 160 bc. Why am I not aware of that from the historical literature? It would seem that we would have much more historical information about that episode than the one that you extensively discuss in 3760 bc. Or have I read about it in disguise? Is this related to the Jesus episode? Was Jesus the son of Anu, or some other big-wig from planet X? That possibility would certainly seem to be suggested by the extant literature about Jesus being the son of god and going to heaven several times.

Who is Yahweh, and how does he fit into this? Is this a new name for one of the "old" gods, or is he a new entitity? Is he the twice-displaced and very pissed-off Thoth, back from the americas with a new name and a new game plan to depose the other gods who have been giving him such trouble? Is he described only in the Jewish literature, or does he also appear in the earlier Sumerian texts? Why does he suddenly show up late in the story when all the other "gods" appear to have been around for some time? I don't know of any "public performances" by him lately. Is he still active "behind the scenes?" Does he have any "godly" competition now [as he apparently did at the time of Moses], or does he rule earth unopposed?

Have the annunaki abandoned earth since the scorched earth atomic war of 2024 bc? They don't seem to have any active on-planet presence any more, or am I missing something? Are they now controlling the earth through their agents--the Rothchilds, Warburgs, Rockefellers, and other world bankers--who bankrupted the US in 1933, seizing the american gold, have recently bankrupted the USSR, seizing their enormous gold reserves, and appear poised to do the same thing in europe before 2000ad? If the annunaki are interested in acquiring gold, they appear to still be working very actively, but hidden behind the scenes.

What does the word "gods" mean when the annunaki apply it to themselves as on page 161 of Genesis Revisted: "Let the Worker carry the toil of the Gods." I.e. what word is it that the "gods" use to describe themselves to themselves in their private conversations, and what did it mean to them? Do we use the same word to apply to them, but with our connotations? What is its history?

You repeatedly mention their need for gold to suspend in their atmosphere to reflect heat back to Planet X, but I found no cites for this in your texts. Is this in the sumerian texts, or is this your hypothesis based on their interest in mining?

I would introduce the Hubble Telescope as evidence in favor of the 12th Planet hypotheses. Nobody I've talked to thinks that you put a billion dollar toy up in orbit without being *absolutely* certain that it works *perfectly.* It seems clear to me that they were using it to look for or at something that they don't want to reveal during the period that it was "broken." All the "images" are actually strings of numbers, and it is a simple matter to write a small program that slightly de-fucuses the images when you want the telescope to be "broken." This avoids embarassing questions from the scientific community about the missings years of images. When they found and examined what they wanted [i.e. the12th Planet and a good plot of the orbit] suddenly it was "repaired."

When are you coming out with a new book to discuss scientific and political developments since 1990? Many of us are eagerly awaiting your next opus.

Are their any discussions in the sumerian texts of the politics and history, etc, on Nibiru? What is/has been going on there is of immense importance to us.

Re: 3600 year cycles. How close does the actual cycle come to this "formal" calendrical period. In Lost Realms, page 33 the ages in the new world are listed as 4008, 4010, 4081, and [?>?] 5042 years. [It is ambiguous whether the fourth sun ended before the 5042 years or not.] I am not certain from my reading of your text whether these "years" consist of 260, 360, or 365.25 days, but the period is increasing in any case. How does that compare with the texts from the old world? Where does that leave us in predicting the next fly-by? You mention the fifth sun era, but give no date for the shift from 4th to 5th sun. The differences between the lengths of the first three sun's are 2 and 71 years. If we take 36 as the average, assume 365.25 day solar years, and add that to the third sun of 4081, we get 4117 as a rough estimate for the length of the fourth sun.

Starting from our reference point in 3760 bc, that would imply a fly by circa 350 AD, rather than circa 160 bc, as a strict 3600 year cycle would imply. The roman empire, the jesus events, the sacking of the temple in Jerusalem, and the rise of the "christian" church all happen within this period from 160bc to 350 ad. Do they reflect new annunaki politics, conflicts and programs brought to earth during the fly-by? Can you pinpoint when this fly-by occurred?: You MUST have considered the exact date of this event. [Or are you saving that for your next book?]

Re gold mining: If the asteriods are remains of Tiamat/earth, and earth is gold rich, that would imply that the asteriods would be gold rich, and far easier to mine than earth: at the bottom of a deep gravity well and deep mine shafts. It makes sense that the annunaki would have spent hundreds of thousands of years mining the easy-picking asteriods, and only came to earth when the asteriods were mined out. Do the texts suggests long term extensive settlement and mining in the asteriod belt/mars before earth settlement? The moon should also be rich in the same minerals as earth, and would also be much more conducive to mining, with its lower gravity. Is there textual reference or other evidence for mining on the moon? Are their extensive colonies in the "heavens."

Do the sumerian texts indicate any other races that are in competition with the gods/annunaki from the 12th planet? What about the division of Nibiru society into two apparent casts, the "Gods" and the run-of-the-mill annunaki, who slaved for 140,000 years in the mines. Are they genetically the same, or is one the designer-gene slave of the other? [The slave race was made from the annunaki, not from enki or one of the other big-wigs. Does this imply a genetic diffence between the two classes? I.e., were the slave [us] made from the worker race of the 12th planet?] Is there any textual information about this social division and how it came about? Do the texts give the life span of the gods and/or annunaki, and are they the same?

In The Wars of Gods & Men, Chapter 10, The Prisoner in the Pyramid, I believe you have correctly and ingeniously reverse engineered the geometry of the great pyramid. The alignments of the shafts D, E, F, & G do clearly seem to determine the fundamental geometry. However, I believe that you have overlooked a problem in your descriptions at pp 213, 214. As I understand it, this entire shaft is cut down through solid bedrock. Thus, the postulated "theodolyte beam" shining up from the "well" segments must shine through solid rock. Perhaps this can be explained by a "magnetic theodolyte" or other wave generator that will penetrate many meters of bedrock, but you neglected to mention this problem.

Where did Nibiru come from? How long did it take to get here? How did life survive [many thousands of?] years of interstellar travel?
