PISSED ON ROYALE

NATURE'S INTERNAL HEALING SPRING,
Of, In and For the Body
Roy E. Buckman

Uropathy is practiced in secret.   Few people will admit to even a remote interest in it.  And those who actually use uropathy as therapy often only whisper about it.  Nevertheless, upon investigation, a clearer picture emerges and one wonders why more people aren't extolling its healing properties as an exceptional remedy of the body, in the body, and for the body.

And in this age of spiraling health costs the healing agent has an interesting price tag-it's free!  And yes, more openly, uropathy is called urine therapy.

The story begins at the dawn of civilization with the Babylonians and Sumerians of Mesopotamia. Urine was studied for its color, consistency and cast in the diagnosis of disease.  The early Hindus using the same methods identified diabetes mellitus as, "honey urine."

The therapeutic use of urine is recorded in the Egyptian medical papyri and the writings of both Hippocrates, the "Father of Medicine," and the Roman physician Pliny.

All through history, men of scientific mind have been fascinated with human urine, and today it is the most studied matter in the human body.  Importantly, there is no evidence to be found suggesting that the body's water is inherently a waste and a filth.  The great 17th century chemist Robert Boyle had this to say: "The virtues of human urine, as a medicine, would require for their enumeration an entire volume."

In our own age, two Miles Laboratory scientists, Alfred H. and Helen M. Free, published a comprehensive study of urine that lists more than two hundred constituents of normal urine, and state that this was only a list of "compounds of interest."  They also stated, "It is now recognized that the urine contains thousands of compounds, and as new, more sensitive analytical tools evolve, it is quite certain that new constituents will be recognized."

Urine is such a pariah on the medical scene that little is known about the benefits it gives to the human condition.   Let's shed some light into that dark comer: Urine is the water we humans are born in.  The fetus bathes in amniotic fluid, which is needed for the development of the lungs in the last three months of pregnancy, and this water consists mostly of the fetus's own urine.  Contrary to popular opinion, not only is urine sterile, it is also antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti- neoplastic (anti-cancer).  And among certain primitives it is used against snake bites, and bee and wasp stings.

On the economic front, science has shown that urine is a chemical "gold mine."  One company, Enzymes of America, extracts the enzyme urokinase, which is used in heart operations because of its ability to dissolve blood clots.  Profits annually exceed $500 million.  Serono Labs of Switzerland garners $900 million a year with a fertility drug produced from a gonadotropin extract obtained from post menopausal women.  Of the four percent of solid matter in urine, the highest amount is urea; cosmetics companies use this sub- stance as the base of many makeups and skin moisturizers.  Even the vitamin B complex can be taken from urine.

Recently, from the medical library at UCLA, I gathered more than 50 research papers telling of the healing compounds found in urine, and during the collecting of the papers found out that there are thousands more.   One paper, by Dr. Homer Smith, was pub- lished in 1954 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, and states that, "throughout most of history and for most living peoples urine has been and remains a respectable and sometimes valuable commodity." Dr. Smith further states, "Of interest to us is the use of urine in primitive medicine, for there is scarcely a disease that has not been treated with it, either by external application or internal administration."

The following is a brief list of urine compounds and what they heal:
• agglutinins and precipitins--neutralize activity of polio and other viruses.
• antineoplastin--selectively inhibits the growth of cancerous cells.
• DHEA--prevents obesity, extends the lifespan of animals, and is a possible treatment for aplastic anemia, diabetes, and breast cancer in women.
• Factor S--helps promote sleep.
• Gastric Secretory Depressant--combats the growth of peptic ulcers.
• H-11--inhibits the growth of cancer cells and shrinks pre-existing cancerous tumors.
• natural cortisone--a well-known and potent healing agent.  Also helps the body cope with stress.
• urea--renders the antibacterial property to urine.
• uric acid--helps to control the 'rocess of free-radical p scavengllers (cancer-causing molecules) in the body.
• urine peptide--shows tuberculostatic activity.

UNVERSAL BENEFITS
There is really no disease that cannot be treated with this method.  Even mental disorders, like schizophrenia and depression, can be helped.  In India, the dread leprosy is treated by adding urine to the morning orange juice.

A friend of mine says that sometimes I sound like one of those snake-oil hucksters who traveled the Old West selling useless cure-all elixirs.  An unfortunate comparison for sure; nonetheless there is a panacean quality to uropathy and all of the information I've collected on it has scientific verification.

When considering the array of diseases treated with uropathy, there really isn't much to learn.  Why is this so?   Because in the world of urine therapy there is only one disease, and that is anything that is bothering a person, whether it is a slight cold or full-blown AIDS; a mild headache or severe cancer; teenage acne or asthma--anything at all.

Urine is much like the weather--it is constantly changing as one's needs change, and it is always striving to help the body maintain a perfect 6.8 pH balance.  And, except in rare cases, one uses'only his or her own urine, because when the body is invaded, it will, in its infinite wisdom, produce an antibody, a steroid, a hormone, an enzyme, or a vitamin--whatever is needed to protect itself.  Because all these factors come into play at the same time to help an individual's specific needs, it is truly "custom-made"; in fact, you could call it "designer water." Cute, but true.

MULTIPLE USES
What are the various forms of its use?  There are just a few and, of those, drinking is the most important, and most difficult to do.  Our social conditioning tells us that the body's water is something to be reviled, and we treat and think of it that way.   As you can see, this is erroneous.  Nonetheless, drinking is still the best way.

The healing constituents produced by the body's immune system need to be recycled, so their full healing value can be utilized.  If you're in real need like I was when I began, take a full eight ounces several times a day.  If you're doing it out of curiosity or a mild chronic problem, acclimatize yourself by beginning with an ounce a day taken in the morning.  Maybe add it to some fruit juice to cut the salty taste.  After a month add another ounce, and keep increasing the dosage until you are comfortable with the amount you are taking.

Rubbing urine, which has been aged for a few days, on the skin, is efficacious in healing.  I noticed that my alcoholism was given a greater push towards healing with this method when done in conjunction with drinking my urine.  Urine will moisten the body's surface, leaving it soft to the touch.  Research shows many accounts of skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema and rashes being treated this way.  Aging allows the water to build up a good deal of ammonia, which has a cleansing effect on the skin.  And don't worry about any lingering odor.  Urine is a skin food and will be absorbed very quickly, leaving no offensive smell.

Fasting with urine is also excellent.  Test results of a schoolteacher friend, Angelica, showed she had a precancerous condition.  Cysts had developed in her breasts, and her doctor, a hematologist, became very angry with her when she refused to allow him to remove the infected parts.  Instead, she went on a 44-day urine fast and, lucky for her, had a friend who wasn't squeamish about rubbing her three times a day with Angelica's own urine.   At the end of the fast the Cysts were gone and today, Angehca is alive, well and very happy.

Other uses are enemas, poultices, foot baths, douches, and injections.

TURN-OF-THE-CENTURY DOCTORS
Earlier in this century a urine therapist, Dr. J.W. Armstrong, wrote a book called The Water of Life.  It tells of his life of ill health before he discovered uropathy.   With its use he healed himself of diabetes and tuberculosis, something almost unheard of in our culture.  From there he went on to help others with their own healings of many diseases, including the common cold, venereal disease, malaria, cancer, leukemia, heart disease--even gangrene.  The work is detailed in his book, which is considered a classic in the field.

Recently I heard of a physician in Canoga Park, California who had treated more than 5000 allergy patients with the injection method.  Although his success rate was very high, a patient who had developed a rash from the treatment, filed a complaint with the local medical board.  Rashes and occasional diarrhea are two possible side effects of uropathy and are easily explained.   Urine is a detoxifier: when leaving the body, toxins may back up either in the skin or in the colon and cause a reaction.  This is true in any holistic therapy; there is no reason to be alarrned.  All that has to be done is to back off for a few days and the condition will pass.

Another downside can be associated with the use of recreational and prescription drugs, even caffeine.  The recycling nature of urine therapy will concentrate too much of these harmful substances in the body and reactions may occur.

Besides human urine, the urine from certain animals is used in India for healing.  Cirrhosis of the liver, chronic malaria, headaches and fever are treated with cow's urine.  Ox urine is helpful with jaundice, worms and diarrhea, while camel urine is utilized as a stimulant to treat cardio-vascular disease.

ANCIENT REFERENCES
Urine therapy is mentioned in ancient scripture--at least, that's the thought.  Of course, with writings so old, much is open to interpretation.  What is fascinating is that once a person experiences firsthand how completely and gently it works, the confidence that he or she comes to have in knowing that this gift of nature is so close, gives scripture an even greater validity.  This is what I've come to know from using my own water for healing.

The following are a few of many passages I've found:

"My urine is loathsome and detestable to me, I will not drink it"
is from the Book of the Reasons for Dying that is part of The Ancient Egyptian Coffin Texts.

In the Holy Bible at Jeremiah 2:13 is this:
My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

"Living waters" is a euphemism for urine therapy as is "Water of Life."

From Proverbs 5:15 in the Old Testament comes the biblical term most often heard in urinist circles:
"Drink the water of thy own cistern and running waters from your own well."

From the Hindu Sastra is this passage:
The waters are verily healing.  The waters chase away all disease.  The waters cure all disease, may they prepare a remedy for thee."

In the Hevajra Tantra from the Buddhist and Taoists texts we find this pearl:
He should always eat herbs and drink water, then old age and death will not harm him, and he will always be protected.

QUICK RESULTS FOR SHINGLES
My own delving into urine therapy came about when a doctor at Los Angeles County Hospital told me that the pus-filled welts, rash and burning sensation that I had been suffering for two weeks was shingles.  When I phoned my close friend Dorothea, a gifted healer, she told me about the benefits of uropathy, and when she suggested I try it, I went slightly "ballistic," telling her that there was no way I could possibly do the therapy; that urine was a poison.  Her response to my outburst was to say very matter-of-factly, "That's not so. It's perfectly clean.  In fact, it's the body's internal cleanser.  It's the run-off from your blood.  It's your blood."

That made sense to me.  If science tells us that urine, a few minutes before it is voided, is in the blood, then if it were such a terrible poison, wouldn't all of us be ill?  After I got over my initial revulsion, I decided, in my angst, to try it.

The burning pain, which is the worst part of shingles, declined rapidly in the first 24-hour period after I began the therapy, and then disappeared altogether within 72 hours.  The welts went away a few days later, and the rash slowly cleared up in about three weeks.  Had I known then about the rubbing; the welts and rash probably would have gone away sooner.

There was another benefit that first week: My chronic addiction to alcohol took a healthy step towards clearing up.   Being raised in an alcoholic environment, a very loving grandmother gave me small glasses of beer at adult parties, "to to learn how to drink" is how she put it.   From that meager start, the addiction continually grew for more than fifty years.   A DUI conviction in 1992 verified my advanced alcoholism.  When I began doing urine therapy I was knocking down two to three quarts of heavy ales a day--a very bad sign that boozing had come to dominate my life.  Now, 18 months later, I no longer consider myself an alcoholic.

The story of Angelica, my schoolteacher friend, isn't the only one with a happy ending.  Once I became involved in this method of healing, I heard many.  Gregory, a Los Angeles musician, has another.  He had full-blown AIDS.  The symptoms were Kaposi's sarcoma, pneumonia, severe depression, extreme fatigue and rapidly declining vision.  He healed himself of these reactions with a combination of drinking, rubbing, fasting and enemas.  Even his eyesight was restored.  His lectures about the ordeal and the spiritual reawakening he continues to enjoy are an inspiration.

A few years ago, India's Prime Minister, Morarjdi Desai, while being interviewed by Dan Rather on national television, admitted to drinking a glass a day of his own urine to maintain the good health he was enjoying.  Mahatma Ghandi was known to fast on urine for long periods to help him get through his prison ordeals.

Before attempting uropathy, read some literature on the subject.  Of the few books, which aren't exactly best- sellers, look for the works of Dr. Beatrice Bartnett and Martha Christy.  These two writers have the most up-to- date information and will explain, step by step, how to do the therapy.  And don't be shy if the clerk gives you a strange look--it comes with the territory.
