GODS CHURCH: |
GODS CHURCH BELIEVES:
We of the Church have observed that every individual creates his own consciousness [or unconsciousness] . . . and can LEARN TO DO IT CONSCIOUSLY!
We of the Church have observed that we can help each other achieve higher states of wisdom, awareness, vision, perception, intelligence, sanity, and other attributes of Gods and Godliness.
We believe the words used to describe these qualities are unimportant, as they are only approximations and never subsume their referents. We believe that which of the myriad possible states of existence you visit or dwell in is very important to both you and others, no matter what words may be used to describe those states.
We believe that personal spiritual advancement is our highest duty to ourselves, and mutual spiritual self-help is our highest duty to others.
We believe that the most profound and beneficial effect we can have upon ourselves and the universe is to increase our sentience and awareness. We thus work in the tradition of the Buddha and his predecessors and successors, to continue and expand the work bestowed upon us.
We cooperate in helping each other achieve the highest possible states of awareness, and in inviting others to participate in this game, witnessing for them, and teaching them to witness for others.
We have observed that we make more progress working with others than seeking enlightenment alone. Others cannot give us enlightenment or guarantee it to us, but we have observed that their attention and assistance magnify our private efforts.
We find this a sacred game, and that sincere participation in it can have profound and lasting spiritual and other effects from inception. We do not believe N-Lightenment is sudden, total, painless, or easy. We recognize there are many degrees, graduations or levels of all awarenesses, and that progress, though exceedingly valuable, may be slow and difficult, depending on many factors.
We believe maximum awareness is definitely better than the next best option. Whatever progress is made, whether slow and difficult or rapid and easy, makes life that much better. Sometimes slow and difficult work produces sudden, amazing and profound insights and revelations. Sometimes it does not.
The critically important truth is: With the proper purposes, a few simple tools and understandings, you can predictably move your perceptions towards N-Lightenment.
If you are drowning, and it is difficult but nevertheless possible to reach the surface to breath, is the difficulty relevant? Is it a proper subject for extensive contemplation? Is it a reason to drown rather than to struggle and survive?
